Operational Model

We believe in evidence based, collaborative, and innovative solutions to support children and educate communities impacted by adversity and toxic stress. With this focus, BRIX has conceptualized four program levels: child-focused treatment, child-focused prevention, parental engagement, and community building. Let us break this down:

This collective approach is vital to imbuing affected children with resilience, educating parents and communities, and building and sustaining support networks. To pilot these strategies, BRIX is implementing small-scale educational and child-focused programs in Mexico and local Bay Area communities.

Parental engagement

With limited awareness regarding the physical and mental health effects of adversity and toxic stress, community leaders and parents are limited in the support they can provide affected children.

Play-Focused Programs

Evidence shows that play can help building core life skills and strengthen resilience in all children, while it can also enable healthy development post-exposure to traumas, stress, and adversity. BRIX aims to provide interactive, engaging, and safe spaces for children to play. Informed by this model, we recently transported pre-loved LEGOs from the United States to Mexico and created community safe spaces for impoverished school-children.
